Global Design Project #GDP256 - CASE the Designer Kayla McCreadie

Friday 4 September 2020 Bridgwater, UK

The challenge over at the Global Design Project this week is Case the designer Kayla McCreadie - check out her fabulous card!

When you case the designer you can choose which element(s) from the card you want to base your card on - I choose the background which is made up of die cuts of the same colour as the base of your card.

I've been meaning to try this technique out for a while, I've seen it pop up on cards all over Pinterest so this was the perfect time to give it a try! I don't know if it has a name but I love it!

In the UK we don't celebrate Halloween anywhere as much as Americans do - we certainly don't send out cards for it! We could however create Halloween party invitations - just maybe not this year....

I love Halloween so you will find that I will always share a few Halloween projects on my blog. The colours in my card are totally me and match my living room. Every year for Halloween I bring out my aubergine glitter skulls - I just wish I could keep them out on display all year round!

I knew exactly which dies to use for my card - the bat dies from the Halloween Magic Dies

I attached Adhesive Sheets to the Blackberry Bliss cardstock before I die cut the bats - I knew this would make it super easy to adhere the die cuts to the base of my card. Good thinking batman!

I die cut a label from Black Glitter Paper and attached this to my card with dimensionals. I layered on top of this a sentiment from the Hallows Night Magic stamp set. I stamped Happy Halloween in Blackberry Bliss, I used the Banners Pick a Punch to create the banner ends.

Its hard to tell in my photos but after I stamped the spiders and before I die cut them, I covered the cardstock in Versamark ink - I did this by directly using the ink pad onto the cardstock.

I applied clear embossing powder over the top and then set it with my heat tool. This gave the spiders a glossy look - it looks really effective but it's just impossible to capture in a photograph.

To complete my card, I added Rhinestones and Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon. This ribbon is an absolute dream to tie into a bow!

Did you know you can purchase the stamp set and dies I have used as a bundle? It's called the Hallows Night Magic Bundle and the great thing is you get 10% off when purchasing it as a bundle.

I hope you've enjoyed my project today - you can find my list of product recommendations when you click the image below. Don't forget to check out the other entries into this challenge over at Global Design Project!
