Crafty Challenge Blog Hop!

Monday 28 February 2022 United Kingdom

I am hopping along for the second day in a row with Stampin' demos and papercrafters for the Crafty Collaborations Crafty Challenge Blog Hop.

Today we have a fun sketch challenge!

I love combining black and white with a pop of colour and today I've chosen to use Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape ❤️

I've mostly followed the sketch -  the beauty with sketches is you can interpret them how you like.

I like the layout but felt the semi circle part of the sketch at the bottom of the card didn't work with my design. I wanted to add something significant in this section so I created this elaborate bow. It came about by accident and I'm not sure I could create it again but I love it. The Gorgeous Grape Sheer ribbon is perfect.

I chose to use DSP for my background - a great pattern that I haven't used yet from the Pattern Party DSP (host set)

I cut a piece of Highland Heather for the horizontal stripe but I wasn't keen on it. It felt too flat. So I used my Stampin' Blends to colour a piece of Basic White cardstock instead. Don't ask me why but I think it works!

I use the same technique for the butterfly that I die cut using the Brilliant Wings dies. I like the different tones instead of a flat colour.

I added the Pastel Pearls to the body of the butterfly to add some dimension.

Underneath the butterfly is a stamped butterfly from the Amazing Silhouettes stamp set. It was my original plan to just have a stamped butterfly but I didn't like it, so I simply added the die cut butterfly on top.

The sentiment on both the outside and inside of the card is from the Create With Friends stamp set. It's actually the first time I've inked it up and I'm now kicking myself for leaving it so long. I love the fonts and variety of two part sayings.

I've used the Stitched Rectangle dies for the label on the front of the card and also to cut out a section for the inside of the card.

If you've never created a card using a card sketch before I'd encourage you to give it a try. I like using new formats that I'd never normally think of - like I always say, I must do use sketches more often!

Thank you so much for visiting my blog - I hope you enjoyed my project today!

Now it's time to check out the blog hop!
